Battlestar Galactica’s Cerberus and Prometheus Are Officially Limited-Edition Collectibles

Ships planned for the original series

The 1978 Battlestar Galactica established a fleet of twelve battlestars, though only eight were named on screen. Cerberus and Prometheus, along with Solaria, were intended as additions if the show continued beyond its first season.

The series did not continue long enough to introduce them. The ships later appeared in other forms across the franchise, giving each a history beyond its original concept.

Different roles in later stories

In the 2004 reboot, Prometheus is a civilian cargo freighter that becomes home to the fleet’s Black Market criminal syndicate. Cerberus appears in the licensed strategy game Battlestar Galactica Deadlock as a large Cylon Super Carrier during the First Cylon War.

The Master Replicas models instead portray the ships as they were originally envisioned: battlestars in the Colonial fleet. That makes the releases a distinctive take on an unrealized part of the series’ history.

Limited runs and pricing

Master Replicas says each ship is being produced in a run of 500. The Prometheus is described as a limited-edition piece, and the article states the same quantity applies to both models.

Both are available to pre-order for $74.99 each, with release expected soon. They are presented as art pieces for collectors rather than toys.
