Challenge Star Cory Wharton Misses NYC Marathon as Daughter Mila, 6, Undergoes Surgery

Mila’s injury changes plans
Wharton said Mila, whom he shares with ex Taylor Selfridge, broke her arm before the race and was hospitalized. She underwent surgery the day before he posted his update.
He explained that he could not travel to New York to run. The reality star had been preparing for the marathon and looking forward to it for months.
Fundraising remains a priority
Wharton said he was disappointed to miss the event, but highlighted the $12,000 raised for congenital heart defect research. He said the fundraising mattered more to him than crossing a finish line.
His daughter Maya, 4, has faced complications from a rare congenital heart defect. Wharton had previously described her experience as his inspiration for running and supporting the cause.
Family time over Halloween
Wharton said he was mentally, emotionally and physically tired amid his family’s health challenges, while emphasizing that he needed to keep showing up for those who depend on him. He also shared that life does not always follow the expected plan.
The change allowed him to spend Halloween with his children, including Ryder, 9, whom he shares with ex Cheyenne Floyd. Wharton had previously said his children were upset he would miss trick-or-treating.
