13 Years Later, a New Black Mirror Release Revisits Its Greatest Episode

A divisive choice for fans

Black Mirror viewers have long debated which episode is the series’ best, with “San Junipero” and “USS Callister” among the contenders. The article’s preferred choice is “White Bear,” praised for combining a frightening post-apocalyptic setting with a dark final reveal.

The episode stars Lenora Crichlow as Victoria, who wakes in a chaotic world. Hunters chase people while others watch and record the events on their phones.

The reveal behind the chase

The ending reveals that Victoria’s ordeal takes place in a “Justice Park.” She is repeatedly mindwiped and terrorized, while members of the public are invited to take part as spectators. The story’s themes of punishment and public voyeurism form the basis of the new adaptation.

Graphic novel planned for 2027

Twisted Comics announced the graphic novel, adapted by Neil Gibon and Piotr Kawolski, with cover art by Butcher Billy. It follows the publisher’s graphic novel versions of “USS Callister” and “San Junipero.” Orders are being taken through the Twisted Comics website. The planned shipping date is January 2027, and buyers who reserve the special hardcover edition will receive a numbered collector’s copy with their name printed inside.
