Trump knows he is going to be trounced in midterms, Anthony Scaramucci tells CNBC

Scaramucci predicts a heavy defeat
Anthony Scaramucci, a former White House communications director, forecast that Trump and Republicans would be “trounced” in Tuesday’s midterms. Scaramucci said he believed Trump knew such a defeat was coming.
He likened the election to a public assessment of the president, saying voters were unhappy with his failure to deliver on campaign promises. Scaramucci described the midterms as the public’s chance to make that judgment.
Democrats could gain control
Polling ahead of Election Day suggested Democrats would win back the House of Representatives and could also take the Senate. Voter dissatisfaction over the Iran war and the cost of living were among the issues cited.
A Democratic majority in either or both chambers could slow Trump’s agenda during his final two years in office. Trump had spent the preceding month holding rallies in Republican-leaning states to encourage turnout.
Possible investigations and party divisions
Scaramucci said a Republican loss could bring investigations in both chambers of Congress, with Democrats seeking information about actions within the administration. He expected MAGA ideas to remain part of the Republican Party’s future, including in its 2028 presidential candidate, partly because Trump would retain influence and substantial PAC funds. Scaramucci also predicted a civil war within the party.
Iran strikes remain in focus
Scaramucci questioned whether increased U.S. military strikes alongside Israel would help the region. The United States launched new airstrikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island late Monday. Trump did not address those strikes in a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity shortly afterward. He discussed other possible targets and disputed whether the conflict amounted to a war, citing the absence of physical fighting.
