Despite polarizing debut, Ferrari’s controversial Luce EV is sold out for 2027, TechCrunch reports

Demand despite criticism

Ferrari’s first electric car, the five-seat Luce, drew widespread criticism after its May debut. The model was designed by Jony Ive, Apple’s longtime design chief, and Ferrari’s stock price fell around the time it was unveiled.

CEO Benedetto Vigna said demand remains strong. During the company’s third-quarter earnings call, he said the 2027 production run was fully allocated, meaning Ferrari’s planned output for that year already has buyers.

Vigna said a new buyer would have to wait a year for delivery. The first Luce deliveries are expected to begin in the fourth quarter.

Production totals remain unclear

Ferrari has not publicly stated how many Luce cars it plans to make. The car starts at about $615,000. Vigna did not give details about the buyers. He described them as a “good mix” of clients and geographies, and said there was no specific buyer pattern or demographic.

Customization lifts results

Ferrari’s existing lineup and demand for personalized options supported its third-quarter performance, even though Luce deliveries have not started. Customizations accounted for more than 21% of revenue from cars and spare parts, executives said.

The company pointed to deliveries of its limited-run F80 hypercar and customer customization as signs that clients want to make their cars more individual. Ferrari raised its full-year guidance and now expects adjusted earnings of at least €3 billion ($3.36 billion), up from €2.97 billion.

Revenue and profit rise

Ferrari reported third-quarter revenue of €1.9 billion, an increase of 7% from a year earlier. Net income rose 13% to €431 million. Operating profit was €563 million, producing a 29.7% operating margin. That means Ferrari retained roughly 30 cents of each euro of revenue as profit from its core business.
