SEMA’s GT/FX: Fat Fender Garage Turned a Utilitarian Ford Truck into an 800-HP GT-Inspired Beast

A classic truck reshaped
Fat Fender Garage based the GT/FX on a 1956 F-100 and extensively reshaped its steel body. A flatter hood and roof, wider fenders, integrated running boards and flared bed edges give the truck a more aggressive profile.
A front chin splitter and a rear diffuser from a Mustang Shelby GT350 add track-inspired styling. The tailgate opens at the push of a button, and carbon-fiber side mirrors complement gray paint with an offset black racing stripe. The grille remains unchanged, preserving a link to the original F-100.
Supercharged V-8 power
Under the grille is a Gen 3 Ford Coyote 5.0-liter V-8 fitted with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. The engine makes 800 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque. A Ford 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to HRE wheels fitted with Toyo Proxes Sport 2 tires. The rear tires measure 315/35R-20, and Wilwood disc brakes use six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers.
Modern hardware and cabin
The truck rides on Fat Fender Garage’s FF1 Performance Coilover chassis, designed to deliver sporty handling beneath the vintage body. The shop also worked on the paint, interior trim and exhaust setup.
Inside, leather bucket seats sit alongside modern gauges, climate control and audio systems. The updated features are integrated into the cabin without discarding the truck’s classic styling.
A blend of two Ford ideas
The GT/FX brings together the work-focused character of an F-series truck and performance cues associated with the Ford GT. Fat Fender Garage’s build transforms the F-100 into a sport truck while retaining its original grille as a visual connection to its roots.
The project displays the Arizona restoration shop’s work across body, chassis, powertrain and interior. Its extensive changes aim to pair the older truck’s design with modern power and handling.
