Seven interested parties as reports say Cadillac stake could fetch at least $3 billion in a sale

A possible sale emerges
Sportico reported that Walter is exploring a potential sale of his Cadillac F1 stake. Walter owns TWG Global, which has a controlling majority interest through TWG Motorsports. The precise ownership structure is not public; reporting says General Motors holds options for up to 30%, CEO Dan Towriss holds up to 3%, and Walter controls the rest.
According to Sportico, Walter is offering the team for at least $3 billion, and at least seven parties are interested. The outlet also reported that Cadillac F1 is on track to lose roughly $400 million this year, largely because of startup costs and a commercial business that is still growing.
Earlier statement differs
In late August, TWG Global responded to speculation about selling Cadillac F1 and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The company said it was not considering exiting its stake in Cadillac F1 or any other part of TWG Motorsports.
Investigation and team plans
TWG Global and Guggenheim Partners are under federal investigation over alleged failures to disclose related-party transactions within insurance companies under Guggenheim’s umbrella. Walter is Guggenheim’s CEO and co-founder. Both organizations say there was no wrongdoing or fraud and that no one was harmed or claimed harm.
Cadillac is nearing the end of its first season on the F1 grid without scoring a point. The team recently announced a new multi-year deal for veteran driver Sergio Pérez, keeping him with the team through at least 2029. Cadillac also plans to open a power unit facility in North Carolina this December.
F1 team values in context
Sportico reported last year that the average value of an F1 team was $3.42 billion, up 48% from 2024 and more than double the average of $1.61 billion in its 2023 valuations. Team Principal Marcin Budkowski has described the planned North Carolina facility as a “statement of intent” about Cadillac’s F1 ambitions.
