16GB Raspberry Pi 5 Faces Another Unavoidable RAM Price Hike, Now at $385

Raspberry Pi 5 price rises
The 16GB Raspberry Pi 5 now sells for $385, an $80 increase. It launched at $120, so its current price is more than three times that amount. The 16GB Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 also received a $40 increase. Its prices now range from $375 to $415. The 2GB Raspberry Pi 5 had a price increase last month.
Memory supply drives increases
Raspberry Pi CEO Eben Upton said a lack of alternative sources for 16GB DRAM drove the latest increases, alongside shortages affecting other components. Upton called the increases unavoidable but said customers would not welcome them. He advised buyers to consider whether they need as much memory, and suggested lower-memory Pis or older models as alternatives.
Company anticipates future reductions
At $385, the 16GB Raspberry Pi 5 is approaching the price of a desktop mini PC. Upton said the company plans to roll back price increases when memory costs decline. He described current memory conditions as difficult but temporary.
