After criticism, Jessica Alba deletes Halloween photos of bloody Nancy Kerrigan costume that sparks backlash

Costume depicted 1994 attack
Alba’s Halloween post showed her in a white dress, tights and ice skates, with a bloodstained bandage on her knee. Its caption read, “Happy Halloween from Tonya … and Nancy,” referring to Harding and Kerrigan.
A friend dressed as Harding stood beside Alba. Kelly Sawyer held a baseball bat, while the person hired to assault Kerrigan in January 1994 used a police baton in the attack.
Incident disrupted Olympic bid
The assault took place before Olympic qualifiers and forced Kerrigan to withdraw. Harding was never criminally convicted of involvement, but the U.S. Figure Skating Association later imposed a lifetime ban on her. Harding has recently made public plans to return to the sport.
Followers divided over post
Some commenters criticized Alba’s costume, describing the incident as traumatic and objecting to turning an attack on a victim into Halloween dress-up. Another compared it to Martha Stewart’s viral choice to dress as an unhoused person.
Other users argued the joke was relatively mild given the time that has passed and the feature and television films about the case. Alba’s representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Family costumes and deleted image
The original caption also referred to Alba’s 8-year-old son, Hayes, dressed as a vampire, but his costume was no longer visible on her Instagram account. Alba also has daughters Honor, 18, and Haven, 15, with ex-husband Cash Warren; Haven posted about her unicorn costume on Sunday.
