Trump has field day with Haley Stevens’ ‘brave’ flip against Abdul El-Sayed

Stevens backs Rogers
Stevens announced her support for Rogers in a video statement on Sunday. She said El-Sayed had told her she was no longer welcome in his campaign and should stay away, adding that she was therefore endorsing Rogers for the Senate.
Before releasing the video, Stevens appeared with Rogers at a Detroit church. The two had been scheduled to appear together Sunday, two days before Election Day.
Trump praises the decision
Trump praised Stevens on Truth Social, describing her action as brave and expressing loyalty to Michigan’s residents. He said she had shown a quality few people possess. Stevens, a centrist, lost to progressive El-Sayed by one percentage point in the Democratic Senate primary in August.
Earlier support for El-Sayed
Last month, Stevens told CNN she planned to vote for El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee. She said the primary had taken place months earlier and that she had accepted the result.
Campaign tensions surface
Politico later reported that El-Sayed’s campaign had asked Stevens to avoid future campaign events. A source familiar with the matter said her presence could distract from the campaign’s central issues. El-Sayed, who is in a tight race with Rogers, dismissed Stevens’ endorsement while speaking with reporters at a Detroit church on Sunday.
