Hogwarts Legacy Replacement Witchbrook Officially Arrives January 28, 2027

A new magical contender

Hogwarts Legacy drew massive sales and a sequel tease, but some players moved on after finishing it. The game has limited endgame content, no multiplayer and can be completed to 100% relatively quickly.

Witchbrook is an upcoming alternative for players looking for a longer magical adventure. Set in Mossport, a seaside town, it follows a student at Witchbrook College who studies magic.

Classes and town life

The game includes lessons in Alchemy, Potions, Astrology, Rituals, Demon Hunting and Tarot. Players can also use their witchy skills to start a business. Other activities include friendship and romance systems, NPC schedules, sidequests, seasonal events, bird watching and cooking contests. A mindfulness mechanic is also part of the game, and multiplayer supports up to four people.

Release set for 2027

Witchbrook was delayed and is now scheduled for January 28, 2027. The studio said it had taken additional time to craft the experience and thanked supporters for their patience.

The game was first teased in 2017 as Spellbound, then renamed Witchbrook in 2018. Firm gameplay took years to emerge, and the release date remains subject to change if another delay occurs.

A potential Hogwarts alternative

Witchbrook’s mix of open-ended activities and multiplayer could make it appealing to Hogwarts Legacy fans. Multiplayer was a widely requested feature for Hogwarts Legacy. The studio describes Witchbrook as a witch life-simulation game focused on magic, friendships and life in Mossport.
