A costume inspired by her hand
Klum said the idea came to her last year: she wanted to turn herself into a giant version of her own left hand. The design included long red nails, a thumb ring, her engagement ring and her wedding band.
Hours to put on
Getting into the costume took about five to six hours, Klum said, while making it took considerably longer. Earlier in the day, she posted hints on Instagram as bloodied prosthetics were applied to her face.
The costume was difficult to carry because of its weight. “Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it,” Klum said. “It’s quite heavy.”
A long-running Halloween tradition
Klum has hosted the New York Halloween party for 25 years. In past years, her costumes have included Medusa, a peacock, an 8-foot-tall “Transformer,” and a werewolf from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video. She has also appeared as a clone alongside several Klum lookalikes and as Kali, the multiarmed Hindu goddess of death and destruction.
