College football rankings: New AP Top 25 poll features major shakeup

Ohio State drops from top 10

Ohio State began the season ranked No. 1, but an unexpected defeat against USC left the Buckeyes at 6-2. In the AP Top 25 released after Week 9, they fell to No. 11, outside the top 10 heading into Week 10.

The team is also without star quarterback Julian Sayin, who is injured. Ohio State has little room for further losses if it hopes to go all the way, and must find a way to win without one of its most important players.

Miami takes the top spot

Undefeated Miami moved to No. 1 in the poll. The Hurricanes barely beat the North Carolina Tar Heels, but remained unbeaten at this stage of the season. Georgia ranked No. 2, followed by Utah at No. 3, Notre Dame at No. 4 and UCLA at No. 5. Indiana, BYU, Kentucky, Alabama and Texas completed the top 10.

The new AP Top 25

After Ohio State at No. 11, the poll listed Ole Miss at No. 12, Texas Tech at No. 13, Wake Forest at No. 14 and LSU at No. 15. Tennessee ranked No. 16, followed by Houston, USC, Missouri and Boise State.
