Deadspin: Ravens QB Lamar Jackson Needs Thumb Surgery, Is Headed to IR

Jackson hurt on opening play
Jackson’s throwing hand struck the wrist of Buffalo pass rusher Greg Rousseau as he threw an incomplete pass. He went to the sideline with his thumb out of place, then was taken to the locker room and ruled out.
Jackson returned to the field in the third quarter wearing a thumb splint. Minter said Jackson would have surgery and be placed on injured reserve. Asked whether the injury might end the season, Minter said, “Potentially. We’ll see where it goes.”
Huntley and Fagnano enter
Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano made his NFL debut with 9:39 left in the first half. He completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards, threw one interception and lost one fumble as Baltimore recorded 144 total yards.
Short week ahead for Baltimore
Minter said the team would assess which players are available and prepare for the short week. Baltimore had Skylar Thompson on its practice squad, but placed him on injured reserve in August.
