13 American Horror Story Seasons: The TV Shows Most Like Each Fan Favorite

A season ends, another awaits
The finale of American Horror Story season 13 aired October 29. The season’s audience score on Rotten Tomatoes currently stands at 31%, and many fans appear to have found it disappointing.
Season 14 has been confirmed, giving viewers a reason to return to the anthology later. In the meantime, other shows offer elements that may appeal to fans of particular seasons, though they do not reproduce the anthology’s mix of storylines and themes.
Haunted homes and dark institutions
Murder House fans may find a familiar kind of dread in The Haunting of Hill House. Both series center on a family in a house haunted by ghosts, while the family’s personal struggles contribute to its downfall.
Ratched may appeal to viewers whose favorite was Asylum. Developed by Ryan Murphy and starring Sarah Paulson, it follows Nurse Ratched at a psychiatric institution where harsh experimental treatments are used. The character has secret reasons for being there, and the institution is populated by villains.
Mayfair Witches shares Coven’s Southern Gothic atmosphere. Its protagonist, Rowan, discovers her witchcraft after accidentally killing someone with powers she did not know she had. She learns she belongs to a powerful magical dynasty and that an ancient spirit, Lasher, influences her family.
Carnivals and theatrical vampires
Carnivàle follows a traveling carnival during the Dust Bowl, with characters including a bearded lady, a snake charmer and conjoined twins. Its protagonist, Ben Hawkins, has healing powers, while Methodist minister Brother Justin discovers he can control others. Their separate stories increasingly converge around a larger battle between good and evil.
Interview with the Vampire may suit Hotel fans drawn to vampires and complicated relationships. Louis, Lestat and teenage vampire Claudia move through revenge, atonement, violence and betrayal. The series also brings theatricality and frightening scenes, with Lestat’s abandonment issues and rage recalling characters from Hotel.
