Deadspin ATP roundup: Alcaraz, Vacherot claim titles in Vienna and Basel

Alcaraz dominates in Vienna
Carlos Alcaraz beat Australian Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday to win the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Austria. The Spaniard did not lose a set during the tournament and collected his 28th career title.
De Minaur falls short
De Minaur reached the final by defeating Zverev, but struggled against Alcaraz. He made 25 unforced errors and hit 13 winners. Alcaraz took a 4-0 lead in the opening set and broke serve for a third time to finish it in 37 minutes. At 4-5 and 30-all in the second, De Minaur lost the next two points; he is now 0-7 against Alcaraz.
Vacherot rallies in Basel
Valentin Vacherot of Monaco came back from a set down to beat eighth-seeded Jiri Lehecka 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. The victory earned Vacherot his first ATP 500-level title.
A notable rise and uneven season
Vacherot broke through at the 2025 Shanghai Masters, an ATP 1000 event, where he won nine matches, including a semifinal against Novak Djokovic, before taking the championship. His 2026 record stood at 24-18.
He reached the Tokyo semifinals five weeks ago but lost in straight sets to Lehecka. In Basel, Vacherot reversed that result with his three-set comeback.
