Hamilton Takes Pole as Mexico City Grand Prix Qualifying Results Update

Hamilton claims pole position
The report’s update says Lewis Hamilton took pole for the Mexico City Grand Prix. Its live qualifying account, however, stops during Q3 and does not provide the final order or explain how Hamilton secured the position.
At the start of Q3, Leclerc, Verstappen, Norris, Hamilton and Russell were listed as the top five. Antonelli was set to lead the group out of pit lane.

Antonelli’s title opportunity
Antonelli did not need to win the Mexico City race to clinch his maiden Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship. He could take the title with a ninth-place finish if George Russell won on Sunday.
In Friday practice, Antonelli was second fastest in FP1 and fourth in FP2. Charles Leclerc led both sessions. The account also noted Antonelli’s pole-winning qualifying performance at the United States Grand Prix the previous week.

Qualifying eliminations and progress
Norris, Verstappen, Leclerc, Hamilton, Russell, Hadjar, Antonelli, Lindblad, Lawson and Gasly advanced to Q3, in that order. Hülkenberg, Colapinto, Piastri, Bortoleto, Bearman and Sainz were listed as eliminated in Q2.
Alonso, Stroll, Perez and Bottas were out after Q1. Earlier in that segment, Hamilton and Leclerc held the top two places, ahead of Piastri and Norris.
