Ghost Season 6 Review: Cozy Halloween Special Brings Back a Favorite

A familiar return to Woodstone
The premiere begins a few months after Pete disappears during a trip to London with Jay and Kyle. They had gone to find a portrait of Nancy, the cholera ghost, and Pete’s absence remains a concern for the household.
Sam is in Australia working on the film adaptation of her screenplay, “Polar Opposites.” Kyle helps Jay care for the ghosts, while the group tries to bring Pete home. The setup gives the season a familiar mix of supernatural trouble and domestic comedy.

A mirror brings new trouble
Alberta decides to use a séance to revive Pete, despite Sass saying Pete asked for a “DNS” policy—“do not séance.” The ghosts’ inability to leave matters alone is part of the joke, but their plan is soon interrupted. Kyle accidentally breaks a mirror while playing basketball in the house. Jay scrambles to find a replacement before Sam learns what happened, and Mark helps the two find one that looks similar. The mirror, however, brings an unexpected guest: Hetty’s estranged sister, Margaret.

Comfort and family history
Margaret’s arrival ties the Halloween story to Hetty’s troubled family history. The premiere finds its emotional center in the relationship between the sisters, who never understood each other, alongside the comedy of the ghosts’ latest predicament.
The result is an enjoyable, comfortable start to the season rather than a major change in the show’s approach. Richie Moriarty returns as Pete before the second episode’s credits, preventing the mystery of his disappearance from being drawn out.
