Tarantulas Serves a Secret Council: 10 Most Iconic Transformers Aligned with Neither Decepticons Nor Autobots

Hidden agendas and deception

In Beast Wars, Tarantulas serves among Megatron’s Predacons but pursues schemes of his own. A skilled scientist, he manipulates technology, tampers with stasis pods and conducts experiments that unsettle his fellow Predacons.

Mercenary choices and partners

Doubledealer profits from the rivalry rather than committing to either faction. His partners Knok and Skar enable different configurations: Knok unlocks the Autobot-like robot form, while Skar enables the Decepticon-marked falcon mode.

His weapons include an intercontinental ballistic missile and a solid-light blaster for robot mode. Lockdown likewise works for payment, taking Decepticon contracts in Transformers Animated in exchange for valuable upgrades and harvesting parts from captured opponents to improve his arsenal.

Warriors and greater threats

Sideways arrives on Earth in Armada, presenting himself as a wandering drifter. After initially helping Hot Shot against Scavenger, he switches the Mini-Con head used to show Autobot or Decepticon affiliation, gaining access to both sides.

Sideways is revealed as an emissary of Unicron, seeking to intensify the conflict and hatred. Dinobot, a raptor-form Transformer in Beast Wars, also changes factions, seeking a place with the Maximals after a failed challenge to Megatron. His warrior’s code guides him, though he often clashes with Rattrap and questions Optimus Primal’s team. Lockdown also appears in the 2014 film Age of Extinction, where the Creators hire him to retrieve Optimus Prime; he temporarily works with human agents pursuing the same goal.
