Art Book Arrives November 3 as Star Wars Officially Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Look at Mandalorian and Grogu

Inside the art book
The book offers an in-depth look at how The Mandalorian and Grogu was made, with artwork by Phil Szostak. It is set for release on November 3 and is available for preorder.
The film continues The Mandalorian, with Mando, played by Pedro Pascal, taking a leading role. The book also shares information from creatives involved in the production, including Lucasfilm visual effects supervisor John Knoll.
Making Mando’s interactions
Knoll said the production used props and stunt performers to help create physical interactions between Mando and digital creatures. Performers sometimes wore padding and clothing chosen to reflect the right color onto Mando’s armor.
Knoll explained that the team could also use a computer-generated version of Mando when a creature did not align as intended. He said replacing Mando’s arm with a CG version could help make the interaction work.
Designing the Anzellans
Alzmann said he aimed to continue the work of Neal Scanlan, who designed the species for The Rise of Skywalker. For The Mandalorian Season 3, Alzmann viewed the Anzellans as technology-focused characters who cared more about fixing things than their appearance.
