Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Officially Unleashed: Exclusive Avengers: Doomsday First Look

Doom takes center stage

Collider can exclusively debut new 4DX and ScreenX posters for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Both designs feature Doctor Doom, the film’s newest major villain. The 4DX poster uses Doom’s signature black-and-green colors and leaves out the ensemble of heroes typical of Marvel crossover films. It shows no Avengers, X-Men or other superheroes.

The ScreenX poster offers a glimpse of Latverian witches surrounding Doom. Together, the designs put the focus on the character rather than the film’s many familiar faces.

Two formats, distinct effects

The posters arrive ahead of the movie’s December 18 theatrical release. 4DX and ScreenX screenings are presented as immersive ways to watch the Marvel blockbuster. 4DX combines synchronized motion seating with environmental effects, including wind and water. ScreenX expands the usual theater image across the walls, drawing viewers into the film’s setting.

A new role for Downey

Avengers: Doomsday is set to bring together a large number of familiar faces, while introducing a major villain from Marvel history. Robert Downey Jr., described as an iconic comic-book movie actor, is returning in a new role as Doctor Doom.

The posters’ villain-focused approach signals Doom’s central place in the film. The ScreenX design also introduces the coven of Latverian witches surrounding him.
