Harry Potter Director’s ’80s Cult Classic Officially Returns to HBO Max Streaming Charts Again
Gremlins returns to the charts
Gremlins recently reached No. 3 on HBO Max’s worldwide Top 10 movie chart. It ranked between Evil Dead Burn and Secret Window. The film first arrived in 1984 and has continued to find an audience decades later. Its latest chart performance comes as fans await the franchise’s next installment.
A pet with strict rules
Billy, played by Zach Galligan, receives a furry Mogwai for Christmas and names it Gizmo. The creature comes from Sam Wing, played by Keye Luke. Billy must follow three important rules while caring for Gizmo. When those rules are broken, reptilian Gremlins appear and wreak havoc.
A franchise with more to come
Gremlins grossed over $212.9 million worldwide and received widespread critical praise. Rotten Tomatoes lists an 86% critics score and a 78% audience score. The film’s success led to Gremlins 2: The New Batch, which received mixed reactions from audiences. The franchise also expanded with Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, an animated prequel series set years before the original and featuring a 10-year-old Sam Wing, voiced by Izaac Wang.
