DC Unveils a Shimmering Classic Villain Redesign 44 Years After Silver Swan’s Debut

A striking new Silver Swan
The cover for Absolute Wonder Woman #28, illustrated by Hayden Sherman, presents Silver Swan in a silver-toned design. It brings together elements linked to Valerie Beaudry, Vanessa Kapatelis and Helen Alexandros, all of whom are possible candidates to take on the role in this continuity.
Silver Swan originated in 1982, and different characters have used the name. Recent sightings have put Vanessa Kapatelis forward as an early candidate, but the identity has not been confirmed.
A new story begins
The issue launches “Swan Songs,” a two-part storyline. Doctor Psycho is set to take a major antagonist role, while the solicits describe an inhuman shriek cutting through Gateway City.
The description also suggests Silver Swan may use her familiar sonic abilities, though the Absolute Universe may give them a new twist. Fabiana Mascolo is joining the series as interior illustrator as Kelly Thompson’s run continues.
Beyond Wonder Woman
The Absolute Universe is also building toward Absolute Justice, a five-part event planned for April 2027. Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreyra, the team behind Absolute Superman, will write and illustrate the series.
The story will bring together reimagined heroes, with Martian Manhunter gathering the team. The series is intended to connect the universe’s versions of classic characters as its broader storyline moves toward Absolute Crisis.
