Apple TV’s MonsterVerse Spin-Off Officially Faces Major Changes Ahead of Potential Season 3

A story across two eras
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters follows the organization introduced in the 2014 film Godzilla and explores the people who monitor giant creatures. Its first season moved between the 1950s and the 2010s.
In the earlier timeline, Lee Shaw, Keiko Miura and Bill Randa hunted monsters. In the later story, Keiko’s grandchildren Kate and Kentaro sought out an older Shaw after Godzilla’s battle with two insectoid titans in San Francisco.
Season two brings Titan X
The second season again moved between past and present. Shaw, Miura and Randa discovered the mysterious Titan X in the 1950s. The creature later re-emerged in the present-day storyline. The season wrapped up earlier this year, while a third season is in development.
New creative team sought
The new direction reportedly includes new monsters from the MonsterVerse. It is not yet clear whether Godzilla and King Kong, both of whom have appeared on Monarch, will return, or whether characters from the first two seasons will be back.
