Marvel’s VisionQuest Sends Vision Into Madripoor’s Criminal Underworld

Vision’s rescue mission
Ultron takes control of Vision’s body and confines the artificial intelligences inside his former prison. During that time, he spends time with Thomas Shepherd, Vision’s grandson. Vision and his allies later discover that Paladin is holding Tommy captive in Madripoor.
Vision drops the firewalls, regaining control of his body but allowing Ultron to escape onto the internet. Ultron leaves Vision aboard a cargo plane bound for Madripoor. Vision now heads there to save his son, while Paladin remains intent on completing his contract despite the client ending their arrangement.

A haven for criminals
Madripoor first appeared in the MCU in the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes go there with Baron Helmut Zemo to investigate who recreated the Super Soldier Serum used by Karli Morgenthau and the Flag Smashers.

Power and unanswered questions
Sharon uses the situation to pursue revenge against Karli and seek a pardon from the US government, along with access to classified resources for her business. Madripoor also features black-market activity: Layla El-Faouly says in Moon Knight that she met rare antiquities collector Anton Mogart there. The island is also mentioned in Echo, Ironheart and The Punisher: One Last Kill.
Paladin is suited to the city’s criminal environment, and the client has brought in Ten Rings commander Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar to capture Vision. The story leaves open how the client found them and whether the client is based in Madripoor. Sharon could be involved, given her power there and past use of mercenaries, but that remains a possibility rather than a confirmed answer.
