Dexter, Resurrection Season 2 EP Teases Charley as Lumen's Replacement After 16 Years

A new partner for Dexter

Charley, played by Uma Thurman, served as head of security for Leon Prater, portrayed by Peter Dinklage, in season 1. In the new season, she and Dexter will work together to eliminate killers from Prater’s files.

Executive producer Scott Reynolds said the characters are drawn to each other. “They are two apex predators,” Reynolds said, describing an attraction that Uma Thurman and Michael C. Hall found undeniable.

Echoes of Dexter and Lumen

The partnership recalls Lumen, played by Julia Stiles, who joined Dexter in season 5 to hunt men who had assaulted her. The two developed a romantic relationship, and Lumen became the first of Dexter’s vigilante partners to understand his “Dark Passenger.” Lumen survived, but did not return after that season. Charley’s possible place in a similar role would offer a new direction after the revival’s first season.

From conflict to cooperation

Charley and Dexter clashed in season 1. The former Special Forces officer suspected Dexter was concealing his identity and held him at gunpoint in Prater’s vault. They later made peace after Dexter revealed Prater had kept secret files on Charley’s illicit activities as leverage. How the two move from that truce to working together has not yet been revealed.

Killers and intersecting loyalties

Season 2 introduces the New York Ripper, played by Brian Cox; the Five Borough Killer, played by Dan Stevens; and the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger, played by Gabriel Luna. Rapunzel, played by Eric Stonestreet, and Lady Vengeance, played by Krysten Ritter, are also set to return.

Dexter’s son Harrison, played by Jack Alcott, will work in law enforcement, while Joey Quinn, played by Desmond Harrington, investigates Angel Batista’s death. The season is also expected to bring new and returning characters into conflict, and not everyone may survive the finale.
