James Anderson: Stuart Broad calls Lancashire treatment of ex-England bowler disrespectful

Lancashire plans a rebuild
Incoming director of cricket Paul Farbrace has decided to rebuild the struggling team for the future without England’s all-time leading wicket-taker. Farbrace moved from Sussex at the end of the season but has not officially begun his Lancashire role.
Broad questions club leadership
Farbrace told Anderson the news at a meeting last week, alongside recently appointed chief executive Richard Kenyon. Broad said Lancashire’s approach showed “a lack of leadership at that club.” He asked where the chair and board were, and said the decision should have been handled better. Broad and Anderson took a record combined 1,039 Test wickets across 138 Tests.
Interest from other counties
Broad said he was not surprised that some counties had already contacted Anderson to gauge his interest in moving. He said many counties would want Anderson, describing him as a player who offers a huge amount and remains one of the country’s best bowlers.
