Russian tanker heads toward New York as Trump turns to Putin to ease diesel prices
Tanker bound for New York
The Agioi Fanendes, a medium-sized tanker, departed from the Russian Baltic port of Primorsk with 40,000 metric tons of ultra-low sulfur diesel. LSEG shipping data reported Friday that it is expected to reach the United States on November 7.
Russia resumes diesel exports
Russia agreed to lift its self-imposed pause on diesel exports after discussions between Putin and Trump. The agreement allows shipments to resume to international markets, including the United States.
Trump said on October 9 that Russia would export 300,000 metric tons immediately, equal to 2.25 million barrels. He also announced 500,000 tons for November and 1 million tons “immediately thereafter,” according to the article.
More shipments expected
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said last week that Russia expects monthly diesel exports to climb to between 3 million and 3.5 million tons by the end of the year. He said that would restore the country’s usual export volume.
Other cargoes loaded at Primorsk last week have destinations that are not confirmed. LSEG data showed vessels signaling Gibraltar, the Atlantic Coast or Port-Said.
