H.E.R. Reveals The Shining as Her Horror Masterpiece and Favorite Movie of All Time

A favorite horror film
Asked to name her favorite scary movie on Collider Ladies Night, H.E.R. chose The Shining. She told Perri Nemiroff, “It's actually my favorite movie of all time.” H.E.R. said she likes horror, while noting that some types are off limits for her. She described herself as enjoying only certain horror films.
Her plans behind the camera
H.E.R. has previously directed the documentary The Makings of Curtis Mayfield, which explored the musician’s influence through conversations with figures including Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Tom Morello. She has also said she hopes to direct a narrative feature.
In her conversation with Nemiroff, H.E.R. said a psychological thriller was on her bucket list. She imagined a scary film built around uncertainty, rather than gore or demonic themes.
Open to a Flanagan partnership
Nemiroff raised the possibility of H.E.R. working with Mike Flanagan, whose credits include Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House. H.E.R. welcomed the idea, saying, “Let’s do it. That would be crazy.”
H.E.R. also praised Flanagan as “very twisted,” adding that she liked that quality. Her directorial plans remain a goal rather than an announced project.
H.E.R. voices Jo in Forgotten Island
H.E.R. voices Jo in DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island, alongside Liza Soberano as Raissa. The childhood friends are taken to the enchanted world of Nakali on Raissa’s last night before college.
The pair must confront the possibility of losing every memory they share in order to escape and return home. The film is in theaters.
