GoDaddy CEO: When small businesses should—and shouldn’t—use AI

Where AI can help

Business owners can use AI agents to handle work with little friction, Bhutani said. The tools can help run parts of a business. GoDaddy offers Airo, an agentic tool for building websites and supporting other operational needs. Bhutani said it can create customer logins for website profiles and send targeted outreach based on a user’s location or relationship with the business.

Keep the brand distinctive

Bhutani advised businesses to use agents for tasks they are less skilled at or that do not set them apart from competitors. He said people should retain control over what makes a product unique and over the customer experience. AI can assist with research, but owners should apply their own knowledge when deciding what fits their brand, Bhutani said.

People focus on expertise

The company says it serves more than 20 million customers, most of whom are micro businesses with fewer than 10 employees. Bhutani leads GoDaddy, a domain registrar and web-hosting company.
