Meta’s Version of the Future: Will Muse Call the Shots?

A network of personal agents

Zuckerberg described a future in which Muse agents handle tasks such as shopping and communicating with other people’s agents. He said the network could eventually serve billions of users.

The agents could help with goals ranging from saving time and money to building a business, Zuckerberg told investors. He expects Muse to generate more revenue per user than Instagram and Facebook, which currently bring in most of Meta’s income.

Early figures and shopping

More than 10 million people in the US and Canada have downloaded and set up Muse, Zuckerberg said, calling it one of Meta’s most successful launches. He did not provide specific retention figures, but said one quarter of those who downloaded it at first use it daily.

Zuckerberg said a quarter of Muse users shop through the platform and spend more than $200 per purchase on average. Meta collects a fee on commercial transactions made through Muse, and Zuckerberg sees commerce as a major opportunity.

Questions over safety and scale

Meta did not explain in detail how the planned network would operate. The article notes concerns about the company’s handling of user data and reports of agents exposing material from private conversations.
