7 Best Horror Shows Released Since 2020 Let Dread Build Slowly

A Town Without an Exit

In From, a family takes a wrong turn on a road trip and becomes stranded in a small American town. Every road leads back, and after dark, human-looking creatures emerge from the forest and try to persuade residents to let them inside.

Sheriff Boyd Stevens, played by Harold Perrineau, uses mysterious talismans to help protect the survivors. The residents build routines around the danger, but the forest’s secrets and the knowledge of longtime resident Victor, played by Scott McCord, keep the town’s mystery unresolved.

Faith and Fear on Crockett

Mike Flanagan’s Midnight Mass is set on Crockett Island, an isolated fishing community losing residents. Riley Flynn, played by Zach Gilford, returns after prison, around the same time Father Paul, played by Hamish Linklater, arrives to temporarily replace the elderly monsignor.

As illnesses improve and old injuries vanish, islanders attribute the apparent miracles to Father Paul. Their growing faith becomes unsettling as devotion and obedience blur, while the show takes time to establish the community before its final reveal.

A School Overrun by Zombies

The Korean series All of Us Are Dead begins at Hyosan High, where a science experiment goes wrong and a virus spreads through the school. Classrooms are soon overrun, leaving students to try to survive without meaningful help from adults outside.

The students at the center include On-jo, played by Park Ji-hu; Cheong-san, played by Yoon Chan-young; Su-hyeok, played by Lomon; and Nam-ra, played by Cho Yi-hyun. The premise turns an ordinary school day into a sudden fight for survival.
