VisionQuest: Ruaridh Mollica Answers Every Burning Question About Episode 4’s Pivotal Gala

Tommy and Wanda’s Parallels
Mollica told Collider he follows audience reactions to VisionQuest, saying the show was made for a passionate fandom. Some viewers have placed Tommy’s nose scrunch beside Wanda’s, but he said the resemblance was coincidental.
He said Elizabeth Olsen’s performances as Wanda may have influenced him subconsciously. Mollica had watched her in the Avengers films and was a fan of WandaVision before joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe; he also suggested their personalities might be similar.
Filming the Hotel Scenes
Episode 3 includes several versions of a hotel-room exchange between Vision and Tommy. Mollica said shooting there for an extended period made it difficult to keep track of which version of a scene they were filming.
The director encouraged him to say whatever came naturally as Tommy stormed out. Mollica said they later added more lines during additional dialogue recording, and he enjoyed seeing the different versions play out on screen.
Tommy’s Uncertain Identity
In VisionQuest, Mollica portrays Thomas Shepherd, also known as Tommy Maximoff. Tommy experiences flashes of memories from his former life while struggling to control his powers and understand who he is.
His father, Vision, is facing an identity crisis, while Tommy’s relationship with Lisa becomes increasingly complicated. Mollica’s other work includes the film Sebastian, the West End production Clarkston, and television series such as A Thousand Blows, Witness Number 3 and Red Rose.
