Police Investigating Founding Dispute That Divided Your Party

A dispute over party membership

Your Party was founded in summer 2025 by former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and former Labour MP Zarah Sultana. Both are now Your Party MPs in the House of Commons.

The dispute emerged during the party’s establishment and involved its membership portal. Corbyn called the site a “false membership system” and urged supporters not to respond to an email seeking funds.

Sultana said she wanted to protect grassroots participation in building the party. She later accused it of being run by a “sexist boys’ club”.

Police inquiry and ICO advice

Police are investigating a report concerning alleged unauthorised access to a political party’s database. The force’s spokesperson did not name a party or confirm which political organisation the inquiry concerns.

Leadership roles after the row

Sultana was also elected to the party’s leadership committee under its collective leadership model. Your Party said members and supporters could be reassured that its systems were secure and that the incident was isolated.

Key points

  • Police have not publicly identified the political party connected to their investigation.
  • The inquiry concerns a report of alleged unauthorised access to a political party’s database.
  • The ICO said the Your Party portal launch may have involved serious criminal activity.
  • Corbyn became the party’s de facto leader in February, while Sultana joined its leadership committee.
