    Why is it a PNG?

    A circle needs clear corners. JPEG cannot store a clear background, so the file is a PNG.

    Which part of the photo is used?

    The middle. Crop the photo first with Crop image if the face is off to one side.

    Is my photo uploaded?

    No. The circle is cut in your browser.
