How to Find Fuel Prices in Google Maps in the UK

How do I find fuel prices in Google Maps?

Open Google Maps and search for fuel stations or forecourts near you. The results can show station locations and petrol and diesel prices, with prices also appearing beneath forecourt descriptions ¹³.

You can compare the listed prices before choosing where to go. Google describes the feature as a way to find nearby fuel prices, but the sources do not provide detailed instructions for every phone, app version or Maps interface ².

Which fuel prices does Google Maps show?

The UK launch covers petrol and diesel prices at nearby forecourts ²³. The sources do not specify every fuel grade or product type included, so do not assume a displayed price applies to every kind of fuel sold at a station.

Prices are meant to help drivers compare local options. Google and the government describe them as near-real-time, rather than making a promise that every price will always match the pump at the moment you arrive ²³.

Where does Google Maps get its fuel prices?

Google says the feature uses the UK government’s Fuel Finder scheme, with information supplied through that scheme ¹². Fuel Finder is the source of the reported forecourt prices, rather than a price estimate based simply on a station’s location.

UK forecourts are legally required to submit their prices to Fuel Finder within 30 minutes of changing them, according to the BBC ¹. That reporting window helps explain why prices may not update at the pump and in Maps at exactly the same moment.

Is Google Maps fuel pricing available outside the UK?

The available announcements describe a UK launch on Thursday 8 October 2026 ²³. They do not confirm availability in other countries, so the UK details should not be taken as proof that the feature works worldwide.

Google says the UK feature was developed with the UK government and the Waze community ². The sources do not give a timetable for expansion to other regions.

Can I rely on the price shown in Maps?

Treat the figure as a useful comparison, not a guarantee of the exact price when you reach the station. The source data is reported under Fuel Finder, and forecourts have up to 30 minutes to report a change ¹.

The sources do not explain how often Google Maps refreshes its display, how quickly corrections appear, or what happens when a station’s information is missing. If the price is important to your decision, check the station’s current information before making a special journey.

Is this feature also available in Waze?

Google’s announcement says fuel prices are launching in both Google Maps and Waze in the UK ². The BBC also reports that Waze already had a fuel-price feature, though it does not provide a full comparison of how the two apps display prices ¹.

Apple Maps is reported not to show fuel prices directly, while some third-party apps can link with its maps on iPhones ¹. The sources do not list those apps or assess their accuracy.
