What to Know: Bill Vinovich’s Officiating Crew for Giants-Eagles Week 9

Vinovich’s experience and crew
Vinovich is the NFL’s second-longest-tenured referee, behind Carl Cheffers. Cheffers has 27 years of NFL officiating experience, including 19 as a referee; Vinovich has 21 years as an official and 18 as a referee.
Several members of Vinovich’s crew have at least 10 years of experience: line judge Brian Bolinger has 10, field judge Aaron Santi has 12, and side judge Jimmy Buchanan and back judge Rodd Prukop each have 18. Bolinger and down judge Frank LeBlanc are joining Vinovich’s crew for the first time after working on Ronald Torbert’s crew last year.
New assignments and replay roles
Umpire Scott Campbell is also new to Vinovich’s crew this year. Campbell was with Clete Blakeman’s crew last season. The crew’s replay officials are Chad Wakefield and Patrick Kepp. Kepp is in his first NFL season after serving in a CIP covering the Coastal Athletic Conference, the Ivy League and the Patriot League.
Penalty totals this season
Through six games, Vinovich’s crew has thrown 89 penalty flags, the fewest of any crew; six were dismissed. It has averaged 13.83 flags per game. The crew has flagged road teams 45 times and home teams 38 times. Those figures total 83, fewer than the 89 flags reported overall.
Previous Giants games
Last season, Vinovich’s crew officiated two Giants games: a Week 2 matchup with Dallas and a Week 15 game against Washington. In Week 2, it threw 26 flags, 12 against the home-team Cowboys and 14 against the visiting Giants. In Week 15, the crew threw 17 flags: six against the home-team Giants and 11 against the Commanders.
