Longing, Chemistry and Change: 8 Netflix Romance Shows Where Every Episode Earns a Masterpiece

Love stories across the seasons

Bridgerton adapts Julia Quinn’s novels into a period romance set in an alternate-history London. Shonda Rhimes and creator Chris Van Dusen built a racially integrated society where Lady Whistledown, voiced by Julie Andrews, narrates the ton’s scandals.

Each season centers on a different sibling. Daphne and the Duke lead the first, Anthony and Kate the second, Penelope and Colin the third, and Benedict and Sophie the fourth, which arrived in two parts earlier this year.

With four seasons released and a fifth and sixth confirmed, the series refreshes its central romance while keeping its larger world. Its eight-episode seasons give each story a defined run.

A couple builds a life

Nobody Wants This follows Joanne, an agnostic dating podcaster played by Kristen Bell, and Noah, a newly single rabbi played by Adam Brody. They fall for each other while people in both their lives weigh in on their interfaith relationship.

Created by Erin Foster and loosely based on her life, the series pairs quick banter with a strong supporting role for Justine Lupe as Joanne’s sister, Morgan. The third season, released in October, moves beyond the couple’s early uncertainty and into the challenges of building a life together.

Morgan’s growing media career and the tension between her and Sasha also get more attention. The story deepens its central relationship without relying on unnecessary conflict.

Years of missed timing

One Day adapts David Nicholls’ 2009 novel, following Emma Morley, played by Ambika Mod, and Dexter Mayhew, played by Leo Woodall, over fourteen years. Each episode returns to the same date.

The pair meet at their Edinburgh graduation in 1988. The series traces their friendship, missed timing, relationships with other people and the gradual pull between them. Mod portrays Emma as intelligent but self-doubting, while Woodall plays Dexter’s early-career arrogance. Their changing lives provide the series’ long view of romance.
