Sylvester Stallone’s Rated Action Thriller Officially Gets a Second Chance as Prime Video Hit

A streaming surprise for Stallone
Alarum, featuring Sylvester Stallone, Scott Eastwood and Mike Colter, has become a streaming favorite despite its poor critical reception. At the time of writing, it ranks among Prime Video’s ten most-watched titles worldwide.
Harsh reviews contrast with popularity
Collider critic Jeff Ewing gave Alarum a 3/10, criticizing its underdeveloped scenes and saying the film wasted a talented cast and an engaging premise. Other responses to the movie were also sharply negative.
The unlikely streaming performance arrives as Stallone is back in the spotlight through Tulsa King. The series has continued to rank strongly on Paramount+ since its Season 4 premiere, trailing only South Park for the top spot.
The story behind Alarum
Alarum follows former rivals Joe, played by Eastwood, and Lara, played by Willa Fitzgerald. They go rogue during a mission, marry, and settle into an off-the-grid life at a quiet retreat.
Their lives are disrupted when a wanted hard drive turns up, drawing the couple back into danger. Alexander Vesha wrote the story, and Michael Polish directed the film.
Tulsa King adds new regulars
In Tulsa King’s fourth season, Stallone returns as Dwight “The General” Manfredi. He works to legitimize his empire while confronting corrupt politicians and new enemies. Flula Borg and Gretchen Mol have joined the series as regular cast members. Tulsa King has an 86% average critics’ approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
