This November 7, Steam officially drops 5 free games players can keep forever

Robots and a growing town

Voltgate is a fast-paced arena shooter where players customize robots and fight in arenas. It supports player-versus-player matches for two to four people, along with Headliner, a four-player cooperative wave-survival mode.

Townlet takes a quieter approach. The taskbar idler develops according to files players send to the Recycle Bin; players can restore files after villagers carry them away.

Horror and comedy RPG

Den: A Short Horror Story arrived near the end of October. Its brief camping-themed horror tale can be completed in one sitting, offering an option for players still in the mood for horror.

WendyQuest: Legend of the Four Corner Stones is a role-playing tie-in for Wendy’s fast-food restaurants. The article describes it as a lengthy, personality-filled game, with some players taking as long as 12 hours to finish.

A battle simulator option

Massive Army Battle features hand-drawn sprites, 12 levels and one-on-one player-versus-player matches. Its base game is free and offers gameplay without the additional mode. A paid Sandbox DLC adds Sandbox mode, six new heroes and more. Together, the five games provide different ways to spend time without paying for their base versions.

Key points

  • The five featured Steam games span shooters, idle play, horror, role-playing and battle simulation.
  • Voltgate includes robot customization, small PvP matches and cooperative wave survival.
