More Than $3 Million Raised as Star Trek: Ascendancy’s Final Frontier Is Officially Announced

A new frontier for Ascendancy
Though it takes its name from the 1989 movie, the expansion does not retell the adventure of Kirk and Spock. Star Trek: Ascendancy first launched in 2016, with factions including the Federation, Klingons and Romulans.
Three civilizations join play
The expansion adds the Gorn, the Tholians and the Terran Empire as playable civilizations. These factions had previously been available only to Gamefound backers, and the Terran Empire comes from Star Trek’s Mirror Universe.
Campaign Mode introduces scenarios with distinct objectives and added replayability. Automated non-player civilizations also let fans play solo or add opponents to multiplayer sessions.
Components and campaign funding
The box includes 90 plastic ships, 45 system disks, 13 dice and more than 400 cards. It also contains resource nodes, fleet markers, updated rules, a campaign book and custom storage for the pieces.
The project raised more than $3 million through Gamefound. Its original release schedule was delayed, but Gale Force Nine’s October 5, 2026 update said production was nearing completion, with shipments to distribution centers expected soon.
Pre-orders and expected timing
Pre-orders are available through Zatu Games, where the expansion is listed at approximately $138 USD. Bundles are also offered for newcomers seeking the original civilizations or the existing expansions.
Fulfillment is anticipated in late 2026, but no firm retail release date has been confirmed. The launch arrives as Star Trek marks its 60th anniversary in 2026.
