Baylor Football Hosts Iowa State After Wild Upset: Time, Channel, Stats to Know Before You Watch

Klanderman’s second game in charge
Baylor returns to Waco after beating UCF in Orlando and will host Iowa State for homecoming. Joe Klanderman, the Bears’ defensive coordinator, will serve as interim head coach for a second game.
Baylor fired Dave Aranda after losing to Kansas two weeks earlier. Klanderman wants the permanent job, and this game gives him another chance to make his case as the program searches for a new head coach.
Two offenses with different strengths
Iowa State averages 370 yards per game, the second-lowest mark in the Big 12. Baylor ranks eighth in the conference, averaging 434 yards per game. The Cyclones are coming off a 51-49 win over Oklahoma State. Quarterback Jaylen Raynor has thrown 10 touchdown passes and five interceptions this season.
Flora leads the Cyclones
Running back Aiden Flora has been Iowa State’s most productive offensive player, averaging 117 rushing yards per game to lead the Big 12. He gained 221 yards on the ground against Oklahoma State. Baylor’s defensive task will be to contain Flora and make Raynor produce through the air, where he has thrown five interceptions this season.
Baylor line faces limited pass rush
Iowa State has recorded 10 sacks, the fewest in the Big 12, and averages slightly more than one per game. That could give Baylor’s offensive line an opportunity to protect quarterback DJ Lagway.
Baylor has used different offensive line combinations this season. If Iowa State cannot generate pressure, the Bears may have more time to build cohesion up front.
