Wordle History: Today’s Answer and Past Words Explained

How Wordle Works
Players enter five-letter guesses into a grid with six rows. Green marks a letter in the correct position, yellow indicates it appears elsewhere in the answer, and grey means it is not included.
The aim is to use those clues to solve the puzzle within six attempts. Wordle releases a new puzzle each day, while also tracking players’ streaks and guess distributions and providing a sharing feature.

A Familiar Guessing Format
Wordle’s clue system has an earlier counterpart in Mastermind, a game in which players try to identify a sequence of colored pegs. Both games use feedback from guesses to guide the next attempt. Wordle is hosted by The New York Times and has more than 1,700 words remaining as possible solutions.

Past Answers and Today
A list of every daily answer used so far in 2025 is available for players seeking help with difficult puzzles or checking earlier solutions. A strong opening guess can also help narrow down the possibilities. The answer list includes today’s solution, so players who have not finished the current puzzle may want to avoid it until they are done.
