LeAnn Rimes Turns Snake Fears Into a ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Strength

Fear becomes part of the performance
When Rimes learned the episode would pay tribute to “Snakes on a Plane” and feature her character, she contacted showrunner Rashad Raisani. She says she was worried because she has long been terrified of snakes and had never taken on action work at that scale.
The production used a few plastic snakes, but much of the action depended on Rimes imagining what was happening. She later said her fear may have helped: “My imagination was running wild,” Rimes told TVLine.
Director of photography Tommy Lohmann, who operated a camera on the original film, guided Rimes through movement and action. She said his experience made the episode enjoyable, and that she had since watched clips from the movie.
A song during the emergency
In the episode, Pharaoh smuggles snakes onto the plane. Cammie helps the pilot and passengers hold them off until the aircraft lands, though the landing is rough. Dixie sings “Amazing Grace” to calm those aboard. Rimes said she often flies for work and had imagined how she might comfort herself in an emergency, making the song choice feel familiar to her.
Dixie confronts Blythe publicly
Dixie emerges unharmed and befriends a boy on the flight, who turns out to be country star Russell Dickerson’s son. Dickerson offers to repay her, leading to Dixie performing at his concert.
She performs her “Lady B” diss track and identifies the mystery woman as Blythe. Watching on her laptop, Blythe responds, “Well played.” Rimes said Dixie and Blythe’s relationship will take twists and turns this season. She added that the Lady B storyline has paused for now, while what comes next remains open.
