FBI statement: Thomas Markle charged with possessing child sexual abuse material — read the allegations

Federal charge and allegations

Markle is charged with one count of possessing child pornography, a felony carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. He is the father of the Duchess of Sussex.

First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli said the allegations involve child sexual abuse material, including photographs that allegedly show Markle with minor girls. Essayli said prosecutors would pursue the case to the fullest extent of federal law.

FBI appeal for information

Patrick Grandy, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, said the case underscored the value of people speaking up when they suspect child exploitation. He urged anyone with relevant information to contact local law enforcement or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
