Last in NBA announcer rankings for three years, Kenny Beecham calls Warriors broadcast worst in whole league for defending Draymond Green

Warriors booth faces fresh criticism
The Golden State Warriors’ NBC Sports broadcast team, Bob Fitzgerald and Kelenna Azubuike, has placed last in Awful Announcing’s local NBA announcer rankings for three years in a row. Critics have faulted the pair for condescending commentary, excessive instruction and complaints about referees, as well as what they view as pronounced favoritism toward the Warriors.
That criticism resurfaced during Monday’s matchup with the Phoenix Suns. Warriors forward Draymond Green received a technical foul after throwing Suns center Khaman Maluach to the floor and later escalating matters with guard Dillon Brooks.
Beecham objects to defense
Beecham said the booth’s support for Green went too far, arguing that its coverage left little room for Warriors players to be at fault. He also pointed to Green’s actions toward Maluach and Brooks as an example of what he considered excessive defense of the team.
Long-running complaints continue
Awful Announcing readers and other commentators have also criticized the Warriors booth. Last year, Zach Lowe described it as the most homer-oriented broadcast in the NBA, and potentially in sports more broadly.
The 2026-27 NBA season has only just begun, but the Warriors broadcast is already facing the prospect of another last-place finish in the local announcer rankings. That would make four consecutive years at the bottom.
