High School On SI Announces National Wrestling Coverage Partnership With Legacy Wrestling

A broader wrestling partnership

High School On SI and Legacy Wrestling say their collaboration will broaden coverage of high school wrestling across the United States. They plan to combine publishing platforms, resources and wrestling expertise for readers including athletes, coaches, families and fans.

Coverage is set to include national rankings for boys and girls, tournament results, major competitions, standout performances and emerging talent. Billy Buckheit will continue to lead the work; the move to Legacy Wrestling allows more freedom to pursue other coverage and bring in writers.

Legacy’s regional work

Legacy Wrestling serves Maryland and Washington, D.C., with rankings, news, highlights and information about events. It maintains individual rankings for boys and girls, team rankings, and coverage of developing wrestlers, including middle school athletes.

The Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit has expanded its Maryland team rankings to the Top 40 while continuing to update its individual boys’ and girls’ lists. Its mission is to encourage young wrestlers to pursue excellence on and off the mat.

National rankings and recognition

The organizations plan to jointly develop and publish national boys’ and girls’ high school rankings. High School On SI already tracks hundreds of wrestlers across multiple weight classes, assessing performances at major tournaments and national competitions.

They intend to strengthen the rankings through shared research, analysis, results tracking and evaluation. The partnership also emphasizes athletes whose achievements may receive limited national attention, with a stated commitment to recognizing girls as the sport expands.

Stories from across the country

Planned coverage includes significant tournaments, championship events, individual achievements and stories from wrestling communities nationwide. The organizations also aim to feature emerging prospects, established contenders, championship programs and the coaches developing wrestlers.
