Possible shutdown: Blake Lively moving to shutter drinks brand Betty Booze, 3 years after divisive launch

Company may be winding down

Lively’s beverage company is reportedly being pulled from shelves. A source confirmed to People on Thursday that operations appear to be winding down and the company may shut down entirely.

Two beverage lines launched

Lively launched Betty Buzz in 2021 with five flavored, nonalcoholic bottled drinks designed for sipping or mixing. She told People, “I don’t drink because I don’t like the effects of alcohol, but I like being a part of it.” Betty Booze followed in 2023 with sparkling canned cocktails made with bourbon and tequila. Lively described the drinks on Instagram as using homemade recipes, real fruit and quality ingredients.

Launch drew online criticism

Some social media users criticized Lively for promoting alcoholic drinks after she had spoken about not drinking. One commenter called the venture a “Money grab from the celebs.” The names Betty Buzz and Betty Booze were seemingly inspired by Betty, Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ daughter. The couple also have daughters James and Inez and son Olin.
