Amal Clooney doubles up on suede in hip-high boots for NYC night with George Clooney
A night at the theater
Amal Clooney attended the Sunday event with George at New York’s Seaview Studio. He participated in a one-night-only reading of “Smear!,” a political comedy written by Clark Gregg, his former co-star in “Good Night, and Good Luck.” Her outfit paired a caramel-colored Gucci suede trench with an off-white mock-neck minidress. Black pointed-toe suede boots rose nearly to the tops of her thighs, while a black handbag and gold chain earrings completed the look.
A coat worn before
The trench came from Gucci’s fall 2015 collection and has rounded gold buttons. Amal first wore it that year to the Public Theater, with a white Chloé dress and sandals.
The minidress-and-boots combination has appeared in her past looks. In February 2025, she appeared to wear the same black boots for a night out with George, styling them with a gray sweater dress and matching coat.
Suede and statement looks
Amal has also worn thigh-high boots with other outfits. In 2018, she paired a beige suede version with a canary-yellow Lanvin coat for dinner with George; in January, she wore cognac leather boots with a Stella McCartney minidress and an Ermanno Scervino sweater while having lunch with friends in Notting Hill.
Suede has featured in several of her looks this year. In July, she wore a vintage Thierry Mugler suede set with fringe for a boat day in Capri, then wore a fringed aqua and silver Caroline’s Couture minidress at a celebratory dinner in Venice in September.
