Toddler favorite withdrawn after FDA issues warning over choking hazard

FDA reports choking concerns
The FDA said the snack’s composition may cause it to rapidly form a dense, dry and sticky mass when exposed to saliva and chewed. The agency warned this could create a choking risk for children aged 1.5 to 2.5 years.
Three choking reports have been made to the FDA. In an earlier warning, the agency said some incidents required emergency response intervention and observation in hospital.
Company recalls all flavors
Once Upon a Farm CEO and co-founder John Foraker announced the voluntary recall in a Facebook statement. He said the company acted after receiving three recent consumer reports about a possible choking hazard.
Products and company history
The bars were sold in flavors including strawberry, pumpkin and beet; apple, sweet potato and spinach; and banana, pumpkin and cauliflower. They were also available in a variety pack and baby and toddler snack samplers.
Once Upon a Farm launched in 2015 to make nutritious, convenient and delicious products for babies and toddlers, according to its website. Foraker and actress Jennifer Garner later joined as co-founders.
